The true character of America is measured by her communities and the people who work to improve them. Whether at a national level or in their own backyards, our members dedicate millions of hours each year working to spread patriotism and honor our nation's heroes. Here's a few ways you can get involved:

For decades, we've understood that the youth of today will be the leaders of tomorrow. That's why the we remain dedicated to establishing programs designed for young people and educators - offering everything from college scholarships to classroom resources for teachers. 

Our Post can assist in the procurement of U.S. Flags for display at the home or business and will accept torn and faded Flags for proper disposal. The Post will also assist families in obtaining the Blue Star Flag to honor members of the family in military service during time of combat. 

The Post Honor Guard is available to assist families in conducting Memorial Services for deceased veterans.  Services available include:

• The VFW Ritual:  a non-denominational service conducted at graveside, or as part of a funeral or memorial service.
• Rifle team to provide gun salute
• Bugler to play Taps
• Presentation of Flag to next of kin. (Normally the flag is provided by the Mortuary. The Post can obtain the flag if the discharge document for the veteran is available).

Members of our Post provide food and beverages for patients at the Long Beach VA Hospital. We BBQ, and serve burgers and hot dogs to patients and hospital staff at the Spinal Cord Injury Ward. The Post also gives out gas cards to help families travel to and from the VA Hospital for outpatient treatment. Along with Post 6024 Auxiliary, care boxes, clothing and supplies are handed out to young veteran expectant families.
